We will continue to accept video auditions as we are able. However, as the deadline has passed, there is no guarantee your audition will be considered for our 2017 production.

ADULT BACKGROUND APPLICANTS may continue to submit until Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

POSTED: November 17, 2016

CASTING TEAM: Hillary Straga and Ben Cummins

SHOOT LOCATION: Provo and Goshen, Utah. Domestic distant locations, TBA.
SHOOT DATES: June—September 2017 (subject to change)
COMPENSATION: Paid. Rates are commensurate with corporate/educational union scale and position of the role (lead, day, featured, background, etc.). If applicable, agency fees are 10 percent. In order to be paid, participants must be legally documented to work in the United States.
LDS: Actors must be active, temple-worthy members of the LDS Church as endorsed by their current ecclesiastical leader.

LEAD ROLES may apply from any location. If selected, travel, lodging, and per diem will be provided in addition to the day-rate.
The production this year (2017) will portray people of the Holy Land (areas near Jerusalem around 600 BC). We will need people of all ages with an olive complexion.
·        - Women and girls with dark (brown, black, or gray/white) hair and olive complexion.
·        - Men and boys with dark (brown, black, or gray/white/bald) hair, an olive complexion, and a full beard (if your genes and age allow it). Men’s and boys’ hair must also be longer than most are typically accustomed to wearing. Hair should at least cover most of the ear and collar. The longer, the better. (If you are naturally bald, of course this doesn’t apply.)

LEHI: Male, 50s - 60s. Physically fit. An olive complexion is preferred. Must have a strong acting technique. Lehi is a powerful prophet and seer. He’s a courageous man and a stalwart patriarch. He is described by Nephi as a “tender parent,” (1 Nephi 8:37). Even so, Lehi accepts full responsibility for unapologetically following the will of God, whether that is preaching repentance to congregations bent on murdering him or leaving the comforts of home to lead his family into the wilderness of an uncertain future.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, December 28, 2016

The role of ISHMAEL will be selected from applicants for the role of Lehi.

NEPHI: Male, late teens - early 20s. Physically fit and strong. Tall. An olive complexion is preferred. Must have a strong acting technique. This role will cover a span in the life of Nephi over about ten years. During this time, Nephi matures from a stripling young man (teens) into a husband and father—a leader in his extended family. This actor must be able to portray Nephi’s youthful innocence and vulnerability as well as his spiritual power. At his core, Nephi exudes an exquisite streak of humility that colors every aspect of his personality. He’s a young man of deep thought and feeling, always deferential to his respected father and mother, and obedient to the will of God.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, December 28, 2016

LAMAN: Male, late 20s - early 30s. Physically fit and strong. An olive complexion is essential. Must have a strong acting technique. As Lehi’s oldest son, Laman is in a position to be the next patriarch of the family. He is equally as educated, intelligent, and resourceful as his brothers. But Laman is bitter over the family’s unexpected trek into the desert away from the comforts of home. He feels oppressed by his father on one side and jealous of his younger brother on the other. It is important to note that Laman is not innately evil. He is a complex individual, perhaps struggling with his own testimony as his father leads their family into an unknown future.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, December 28, 2016

The roles of LEMUEL and SAM will be selected from applicants for Laman and Nephi, respectively. For men 30s - 40s, the role of LABAN will also be selected from applicants for Laman. If you are a male actor in your 40s, please audition with the Laman side.

SARIAH: Female, mid-40s - 50s. Physically fit. An olive complexion is essential. Must have a strong acting technique. Sariah is Lehi’s wife and matriarch of the family. She has raised an affluent household of four sons and an untold contingent of daughters. She’s a spiritually aware woman with a special wisdom all her own. Amid shattered dreams of a comfortable life, she walks by her husband’s side into the desert, family in tow. Deeply devoted to her husband and children, Sariah is a true matriarch. She dries the tears, heals the wounds, and sends forth her charges better than they were. She is beloved by all.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, December 28, 2016

ADULT DAUGHTERS and SONS: Female and male, 16 – 30s. Physically fit. An olive complexion is essential. A strong acting technique is preferred. These are featured roles. While they currently have no dialogue (subject to change), these roles are crucial to the family’s journey, and there will be a substantial amount of acting involved.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, December 28, 2016

CHILDREN / GRANDCHILDREN: Male and female, all ages under 16. An olive complexion is essential. As film-set days can be taxing, children who perform best are those able to play or study quietly with minimal supervision. We’re looking for well-behaved, obedient, respectful children and teens. We rely on parents to honestly evaluate if their child has the proper temperament. (A parent or guardian is required to be on-set with the child at all times.)
No Audition Sides.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Wednesday, December 28, 2016

BACKGROUND ACTORS: Male and female, 16 and older. As noted above, an olive complexion is essential. (This includes beard and hair growth for men.) Please note that film-set days can be long, hot, and taxing. Participants should be in good health and ready and able to follow directions.
No Audition Sides.
