NEEDED
The production next year (2019) will portray the peoples of Ancient America between about 160 – 77 B.C. We will need adult male principal actors. Applicants may be of any ethnicity who physically resemble Native Americans of North, Central, or South America; Pacific Islanders; of persons of the Ancient Middle East.

All applicants will be required to have—or grow—long hair (naturally black, brown, or gray/white/bald due to age) and to have a naturally olive or brown complexion.

These characters' physical appearance will be based in what we know of the peoples of Ancient America: that they were descended from families who lived in the ancient Middle East and that their modern descendants are the indigenous peoples of North, Central, and South America; and the Pacific Islands.

ROLES

Following are the principal speaking roles for Year 3 of the Book of Mormon Visual Library Video Series. All principal roles are male. We need proficient adult actors of all ages (17 and older).

All of the following roles require a proficient acting technique. (The scriptural references are for your personal study of the character and storyline.) If you audition for more than one role (two at the most), please be sure your characters are sufficiently contrasting: different energy-levels, objectives, tactics, etc. We would be interested to see your versatility.

This should go without saying, but we have learned from experience that we need to make this note. You are auditioning for a principal role in a professional film production.
     -  Please memorize and prepare the material for performance. (We know you can read.)
     -  Study the history of your character deeply enough to understand and incorporate his character into your performance. Make strong choices.
     -  Know what the words mean before you speak and remember that some of the best acting is often between the lines.
     -  We expect auditions of the highest acting caliber. Thank you.

(1) Please take 4 still photos. A current digital snapshot is preferred. Photos with your camera phone are fine.

 - Profile: from the chest upward. Facing directly to one side.
 - Full body, facing camera. Wear comfortable clothing that fairly depicts your natural shape. Please include your feet.

STEP FOUR: PREPARE YOUR AUDITION
We recommend taking sufficient time to prepare and rehearse the scene(s) adequately. Please memorize your lines.
1) Wardrobe: Casual, comfortable, earth tones—brown, tan, gray, green. Avoid solid black. A T-shirt, polo, or button-up oxford with slacks, dockers, or jeans is fine.
2) You will hit a mark and perform to camera, just barely off to one side as if your scene partner were operating the camera. (Not directly into the lens, but almost.)
a) If “speaking to a multitude,” expand your audience to no more than 3 feet on either side of camera.
b) Also, HINT: Find specific people in your audience to help make your performance more personal.
3) We are looking for natural performances for film. Connected.

Thank you! We look forward to meeting you!
